Terms of Sale

All books are owned by us and are in our possession *. All books are offered subject to availability. Books are offered simultaneously from several points of sale there is an inevitable delay between sale on one and deletion on another.

* Very occasionally we may offer an item for sale on behalf of someone else but this fact will be clearly stated.

Payment: is due with order and may be made by:

    Paypal
    Bank transfer in British Pounds
Cheque on UK clearing bank in British Pounds

When we acknowledge your order we will give you details of how to pay by the method you have selected.

Returns: We are careful in our descriptions but mistakes sometimes happen and a book which we have mis-described may be returned within seven days of receipt for a full refund including your return postage. Return for any other reason may be made within the same period for a refund of the purchase price less the cost of shipping. In both cases return is subject to prior notification stating the reason and the refund is subject to the book reaching us in the same condition as it was sent.

Trade

Reciprocal 10% terms are offered for trade sales (we will need to know where to view your stock) except for sales by drop shipping, which are net.

We do not operate an affiliate scheme. We actively discourage drop shipping. We prefer to ship direct to book searchers/traders so that they can see that we have described the book fairly before they then ship to their customer. We reserve the right to refuse to supply on a drop shipping basis without notice or explanation at any time.

Also bear in mind that we put a value in the customs declaration on international parcels. Attention is drawn to the terms of use of this site especially with regard to Content.

The ABfaR Blog

A recent contribution on the ABfaR blog is an update for the 75th anniversary in February this year of the raid which led to the installation of an 'immediate danger' air raid warning in 1942, a warning which sounded like the call of a cuckoo. Prior to that was a brief piece about Georgette Heyer's An Infamous Army with illustrations of the maps from the 1st edition for those reading later editions without them.

Lowestoft Ephemera

I maintain another site called Old Lowestoft. It is a collection point for various ephemeral items of local historical interest. Buried within that site is Letters from Lowestoft, a collection of letters of local Lowestoft war news written during WW2.

For information about the 1916 German bombardment of Lowestoft during WW1 you can find the full text of my family's account of the bombardment on the 'Old Lowestoft' site.

Latest stock additions

I'm adding new stock as time permits, usually only 20-30 books at a time.

I have managed to add a couple of posts to my blog but little else.

I have continued buying interesting stock when it has been offered and I still have a Georgette Heyer collection waiting to be processed.

In the meantime please watch this space!
